Today we decided to head down to Spoons at the Hilton to enjoy a fine dining experience. The restaurant which is known as one of the best restaurants in town has had a colourful past and is geared up to provide its clientele with some of the best dishes.
The restaurant is furnished with chic furniture and is decorated with interesting mosaic pieces that is hung in a back drop of light colours. The shades used for Spoons are soft and radiant and brings in a feeling of cosiness to the restaurant.
We started off the meal with an array of appetizers in order to tempt our hunger which was already hitting its peak. While I munched on the Cheese and apricot in crispy filo with candied peanuts and blue cheese and ice cream dish, others relished in an Assorted seafood fricassee with spaghetti vegetables and a Wagyu cheek and ox tongue terrine with marinated beetroot and pickled onion port and balsamic reduction. My appetizer, was one of the best I have tasted in a while as it was simple but never the less rich with different flavours (as an ice cream was also added to it). The Assorted seafood fricassee with spaghetti vegetables was also quite good.
After savouring the starter, I had a bowl of the Cream of smoke chicken which was also the soup of the day. This tasty soup was thick and is a definitely qualifies as a must try dish on the menu.
Moving on to the main dishes for the day, the 'food critic' in me decided to opt for something new and exciting and therefore selected the Buffalo yoghurt and Arabic spices marinated grilled chicken skewer on sautéed chick peas dish as the main meal. The garnish was beautiful and would have tempted anyone to have a bite of this dish. Though I was quite pleased with its taste, the dish is ideal for someone who likes chick peas and Arabic spices.
The Fillets of beef coated with chicken mousseline and barded with puff pastry spiced lentil spinach dish was cooked as a rare medium stake and was tasty. The pastry had absorbed the essence of the meat and gave it a unique flavour. The Confit of sea bass with stewed prawn har Kau with lobster cream is another dish for seafood lovers as you can indulge in the pink delicacies and is enriched with a creamy flavour.
I must add by now that the desserts at Spoons are delicious and is definitely one of the reasons to visit this trendy restaurant. The Warm ameretto soufflé with raspberry salad and chocolate chip ice cream was simply divine. The soufflé was soft and nice and was well combined with the fresh raspberry salad and the chocolate chip ice cream; it was so good that it left a lasting impression on my taste buds. Another dessert to look out for among the variety of desserts at the restaurant is the Pineapple and date fudge with mango pina colada and vanilla truffle.
After devouring scrumptious food amidst a refined atmosphere, sadly my fine dining experience came to an end. |
